Baptism is the public declaration that we have been connected to Jesus through faith and have trusted Him to forgive and restore us back to God.

 

It is the seal of our testimony that

God has given us new life because we have personally accepted Jesus as our Saviour. The old life has gone and the gift of new life is ours.

 

It is a step of obedience in the Christian life in response to all that God has done for us.

 

Why should we be baptised?

 

To obey the command of Jesus

     Matthew 28:19-20

To follow the example of Jesus

To follow the example of early Christians

To express what happened to us

     Romans 6:4-6

To manifest our trust in Christ as Saviour
